About Our Colleges

Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) has seven independently accredited colleges — Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland — plus the R. Jan LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications.

Together, our colleges enroll more undergraduate (freshman and sophomore) students than any other college, university or community college system in the state. Since 1965, we have served more than 1.5 million people.

Return on Investment

The seven colleges of DCCCD offer one of the lowest tuition rates in Texas, and the tax rate is 47th lowest among the state’s 50 community college systems.

Our colleges contribute significantly to the local economy and the quality of life. Taxpayers in North Texas see a rate of return in their investment of 8.2 percent from our colleges. Students also enjoy a 16.3 percent return on their investments of time and money. For every dollar students invest in their education, they receive a cumulative return of $5.50 in higher future income throughout their working careers.

Employees and instructional programs at our colleges achieve state and national recognition. Every year faculty members are awarded prestigious grants supporting their work, from Fulbright to National Science Foundation grants.

Our Students

Students from our seven colleges receive recognition from Phi Theta Kappa, a collegiate international honor. Several have been named to All-USA Academic Teams by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges and USA Today.

Every year, between 8,000 to 10,000 students transfer to universities to complete their studies.

Demographics

Reflecting the demographics in Dallas County, the student population at all seven colleges of DCCCD is diverse: 24.3 percent Hispanic; 23.9 percent African American; 8.4 percent Asian; 39.9 percent Anglo; and 3.4 percent all others combined.
