Charitable Gift Planning
Planned giving, also known as estate planning, creates a blueprint of your assets and your family's financial future after you've passed away. It determines who will inherit your assets and in what amounts, how they will be disbursed, and even how much your estate may owe in federal income taxes and administrative costs. Through planned giving, you can make a lasting impact on tomorrow's students and ensure the assets you leave behind are well-secured for a cause that you care about. The philanthropic leadership of those individuals who have made planned gifts to the Dallas County Community Colleges is recognized through the Bill J. Priest Legacy Society.
Remember a loved one who has completed life's journey by helping others who are just beginning theirs. You may choose to name an endowed scholarship after yourself, in honor of a friend or family member, or after a business or organization. Foundation staff will help you to determine the scholarship's requirements. Endowments can also be set up as memorial funds. A minimum gift of $25,000 is required to establish an endowed scholarship.
Deferring payments to the Foundation in lieu of honoraria gives you another way to support students without spending a single penny. If a sponsoring organization wants to give you an honorarium for speaking or making an appearance at an event, you may have it donated to any of our funds.
Gifts such as land, real estate, equipment and other non-cash property can be donated for a charitable deduction. Personal property – such as works of art, books and furnishings – that can be used by the DCCCD for charitable purposes can also offer tax benefits to the donor.
Annual gift pledges are payable over a two-year period. Indicate on the form the length of time over which you wish to make your gift. The Foundation will send you reminders at the intervals you specify –annually, semi-annually, or quarterly. Check with your employer's personnel office to see if your company offers this benefit. If so, complete the form your company provides and mail it with your gift form to the DCCCD Foundation, Inc., 1601 South Lamar St., Dallas, TX 75215-1816.
Multi-Year pledges are payable by check or credit card. Indicate on the Foundation gift form the length of time over which you wish to make your gift. You can specify – annually, semi-annually, or quarterly. Pledges at levels that qualify you for scholarship endowments are payable over three to five years or a lifetime, depending on your level of giving.
