Educating More Health Professionals Sooner
Dallas County Community College District has a history of success with its health professions programs at its seven colleges, producing 230 nurses annually and earning state licensure exam passing rates at 95 percent or better.
However, we realized that our approach also created an unintended barrier for students and the employers that sought to hire them. The pathways within the colleges' programs were not clear, and students found that they selected the wrong courses, missed out on opportunities for financial support or were placed on extensive waiting lists. Employers seeking qualified health care professionals dealt with multiple contacts and in turn, received information about candidates from several programs at once.
The Health Careers Resource Center (HCRC) provides a dramatic enhancement to how DCCCD educates and trains more health professionals sooner. The HCRC identifies and tracks students interested in health career programs at our colleges, and manages them in a way that maximizes student retention.
HCRC Services include:
Job placement
Career research
Academic advising
Employer networking
Testing and career assessment
Private donations build capacity and ensure success.
While DCCCD receives a variety of funding from public sources like federal, state and local grants, federal appropriations, and workforce development grants, these sources of funding vary widely in both amount and scope. Your donation today will help provide qualified, compassionate health care providers for the North Texas region.
