PREREQUISITE Be a graduating senior or have recently graduated from one of the eligible Dallas County public high schools, Dallas CAN! Academy, a charter high school at a college of DCCCD or other charter schools in Dallas County approved by the program.
Graduate in with a "B" average or in the top 40 percent of your high school class; OR pass the required assessment test to enter any of the seven colleges of DCCCD colleges.

DESCRIPTION

Available to qualifying graduates from a participating Dallas County public high school, Dallas CAN! Academy or approved charter high schools, Rising Star provides academic support and a maximum of $4,000 in tuition and books for up to three years at any of the seven colleges of DCCCD.

FULL REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must:

  1. You must graduate from an eligible Dallas County public high school, Dallas Can! Academy, a charter high school at a college of DCCCD or other approved charter high schools in Dallas County. Contact the Rising Star advisor at the college of your choice to find out whether your high school is eligible.
  2. Graduate in the top 40 percent or with a B average from high school; OR pass the required assessment test to enter any of the seven DCCCD colleges
  3. Meet eligibility guidelines for financial assistance. You must complete a financial aid application with your college Financial Aid Office. The results of the application will determine your financial eligibility for the Rising Star program.
