Baylor Senior Life Enrichment Program

Mountain View College health students

El Centro College health careers students who graduated from James Madison High School or the School of Health Professions at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center have a very specific scholarship opportunity that provides both financial aid and valuable community service experience.

The Baylor Senior Life Enrichment Scholarship Program  awards eligible students up to $1,000 in scholarship funds, and requires 50 hours of community service at the Baylor Geriatrics Center at Dallas, providing valuable experience for prospective health care workers.

Created by private donors, the scholarship is awarded to eligible students demonstrating an understanding that the health and well-being of the patient is top priority in the health care industry.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need (and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA form) and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to apply, then maintain a 3.0 GPA once in one of El Centro College’s Health Careers programs.

Students must be recommended by a counselor from James Madison or School of Health Professions at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center and provide a personal essay and two letters of recommendation. One recommendation should be from a school official who can speak to the applicant’s potential for college success, and the other from someone who can describe the student’s character or community involvement.

Application deadline is the first Friday in June of each year; this year’s deadline is June 7, 2013.
