Credit Hours
The financial support that Rising Star provides to students allows them to take a few more credit hours of classes each semester and thus accelerates the time they take to reach their education goals. Approximately 45 percent of Rising Star students attend college full time (12 or more credit hours). This is above the norm when compared to district, state and national averages: 29 percent of Dallas County Community College District students enrolled full time during fall 2008.* Only 32 percent of Texas community college students attend full time**; nationally, 46 percent of community college students are enrolled full time.***
