Baylor Senior Life Enrichment Scholarship Program
This scholarship was created by private donors to provide high school students who have an interest in health care professions with an educational experience in the health care field. This scholarship is available to high school students who are required to complete fifty hours of volunteer community service and who choose Baylor Senior Health Center at Fair Park as the site to provide service. This scholarship will also provide an opportunity for increased student volunteer services and potential access to applicable job openings at Baylor Health Care System.

Eligibility
Criteria
- Applicant must be enrolled and remain in a specific Health Career Program while receiving this scholarship.
- Applicant must be a graduate of James Madison High School or School of Health Professions Townview Magnet Center
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or better
- Applicant must demonstrate the need for financial aid. Applicant must complete an application for Federal Student Aid. This will determine student’s financial need.
- Applicants must be diligent students who are trying to gain skills and demonstrate an understanding that the health and well-being of the patient is the top priority in the health-care industry.
- Applicants must complete community service hours at Baylor Senior Health Center prior to graduation (show proof of these hours). Priority should be given to students who completed the entire program at Baylor.
- Applicants must be recommended by a Counselor from James Madison
or School of Health Professions Townview Magnet Center

Process
Applicants must submit the following to the DCCCD Foundation Scholarship Coordinator or complete online:
- Complete DCCCD
Foundation scholarship application form
- Complete (online) the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen to apply for aid.
- One-page letter describing why he or she is deserving of the scholarship.
- Two letters of recommendations – one of which is written by a school official who is aware of the applicant’s potential for college success. The other recommendation can be a character or a community-involvement reference.
- Official high school transcript.
- Documented
performance at Baylor Senior Health Center.
Selection
Process
- Phase
I - High School Counselors from James Madison and School of Professions Townview Magnet recommend qualified applicants who have met the specified requirements for this scholarship program to the DCCCD Foundation.
- Phase
II- Foundation/Foundation Scholarship Committee determine the recipients.
- Phase
III - Foundation informs the winners of the award, telephone
call, via email and letter.
Recipient Requirements
The
recipient must be accepted and registered into a specific allied health
program; be advancing through the program from fall to spring or spring
to summer semester and maintain a 3.0 GPA or better. Failure to meet
these requirements could result in a reduction or loss of the recipient's
scholarship benefits.
