K. Patton Scholarship
Minnie K.
Patton was one of seven children who grew up impoverished in Oklahoma
and could not afford a formal education. When she married James Patton,
a Dallas oil man, she established the Minnie K. Patton Scholarship fund
to ensure that others would not be denied an educational opportunity because
they lacked the financial support.

Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants
must indicate financial need and show evidence of prior academic
performance. Applicant and/or applicant's spouse must not
be employed by Bank of America, or Bank of America Corporation,
or any of its subsidiaries.
Application
Process
Applicants
must submit the following to the Financial Aid Office at the college
they wish to attend:
- Completed
DCCCD
Foundation scholarship application form
- Complete
Minnie K. Patton application form (must be notarized) See Financial
Aid office for application.
- One
letter of recommendation
- Evidence
of prior academic performance (high school or college transcript).
Selection
Process
Financial Aid Director determines best candidates and forwards recommended
applications to the DCCCD Foundation office. Representatives of
the Minnie K. Patton Scholarship Fund determine final approval.
