Mesquite Host Lions Club

Students lounging in front of school

There is a special award niche for Mesquite high school graduates who are part of an under-represented population and who can demonstrate scholastic ability and financial need.

The Mesquite Host Lions Club  Scholarship is available to students enrolled in at least six credit hours of a certificate program at one of the seven Dallas County Community Colleges and who earned a diploma or GED from a public or private Christian high school in Mesquite.

A personal essay and two letters of recommendation are required, one from a school official who can speak to the applicant’s potential for college success and the other from someone who can describe the student’s character or community involvement. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in their college studies.

The scholarship awards a maximum amount of $400 per student per semester, and is renewable for up to five semesters. Application deadline is the first Friday in June of each year; this year’s deadline is June 7, 2013.
