Expanding El Centro's Food & Hospitality Institute
The Dallas area was recently ranked one of the fastest growing metro areas for restaurants, hotels, and bars in the country. Two years ago, DCCCD was approached by city and industry leaders with a request to expand the Food and Hospitality Institute at El Centro College to help meet the workforce demands in the hospitality industry.
Enhancing Early Childhood Education
The need for Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Dallas County is staggering. Only two DCCCD colleges, Brookhaven and Eastfield, have existing programs. Both include child care centers as learning labs for students. The DCCCD needs to expand ECE to the remaining colleges in order to help meet these education, community, and workforce gaps.
Even More Scholarship Opportunities
LevelUp is the Foundation's newest scholarship and is open to Dallas County residents who are 21 and older. The scholarship is designed to put adults on the pathway to an in-demand career immediately upon completion of their studies. Based on the Dallas County labor market, the Promise Pathways will include: early childhood education, information technology, manufacturing and logistics, construction, accounting, and health professions.
