Gay Ferguson Solomon

Gay Solomon is passionate for education, which is the foundation of our democracy and provides jobs and opportunities. Gay has served on the Dallas Community College District Foundation Board since 1996. She also serves on the SMU Perkins School of Theology Executive Board.

Gay’s love for art and interior design led to her work on several boards including the Dallas Museum of Art Board of Trustees where she currently serves on the Committee on Collections and in past years has served as Docent. She also serves on the UT Southwestern Medical Center President’s Advisory Board, and in the past she was on the Board of Visitors where she was Chairman of the Facilities Committee and Chairman of the Art Selection Committee for the William P. Clements Jr. Hospital.

Gay has a history of community service. She is an alumna of Leadership Dallas of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and is a Sustaining Member of the Junior League. She was on the CONTACT Telephone Counseling board and a telephone counselor and was Co-Chair of CONTACT’s 45th Anniversary celebration.  She received the “Spirit of CONTACT Award” in 2003 and, with her husband Bill, the Charles Cameron Sprague Community Service Award from UT Southwestern in 2004.

The Solomons have been active philanthropists for a number of years and, for example, endowed the Solomon Division of General Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a professorship bearing their name at SMU’s School of Engineering.

Gay is a native Dallasite. She received her Bachelor Degree Cum Laude at UT Austin, where she majored in Plan II. Gay and her husband have two children, Bill Jr. and Meredith, and seven grandchildren
